Representation of clients in this sector is expanding year after year.  The firm’s clients have been and are the RK Government and major international cellular, landline and postal operators.  We are advising on various local law issues in the sphere of telecommunications, data processing, storage and transfer, lease of communication channels, connection to public service networks, cryptographic means of information protection, and postal logistics and customs procedure.  Aequitas has lawyers with European LL.M in Information Technology, which enables services in accordance with the international practice and latest trends in this area.

Our most representative experience in this area includes:

-        advice to “GSM Kazakhstan JSC Kazakhtelecom” LLP on various regulatory matters in communications sphere;

-       legal support to a project of “GSM Kazakhstan JSC Kazakhtelecom” LLP on creation of fiber-optic communication network using electric power industry facilities owned by the natural monopoly enterprise, including development of contract and supporting documentation;

-    representation of VimpelCom OJSC (Russian cellular operator) in connection with projects in Kazakhstan, including advice on acquisition of KarTel LLP, the second largest cellular operator in Kazakhstan;

-      advice to KarTel LLP on various local law issues;

-    advice to the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan in connection with tender privatization of the national telecommunications company, Kazakhtelecom JSC;

-       advice to companies of DHL Group, including their local subsidiaries, on local law issues and their projects in Kazakhstan, including licensing, customs, logistics and corporate matters, etc.;
